Diamond Knot Craft Brewing

Brian Sollenberger and Bob Maphet, co-workers in the aerospace industry, kept their day jobs while launching the Diamond Knot brewery in a former bus garage on the Mukilteo, Wash., waterfront. Doing virtually all of the brewpub construction themselves while working full time at Boeing, they sold their first keg of Diamond Knot beer on October 15, 1994. With an outstanding India Pale Ale, Diamond Knot, based 25 miles north of Seattle, quickly made a name for itself in the new and growing Pacific Northwest micro-brewing community.

Demand for Diamond Knot beers quickly outpaced the production capabilities of the original brewpub, so in 2005 the crew opened a second, much larger brewery in Mukilteo. The extra brewing capacity has since allowed Diamond Knot to reach a much larger audience. Diamond Knot now produces some 6,000 barrels of beer per year. In addition to the acclaimed IPAs, Diamond Knot makes several popular seasonal ales.< /p>
