Launched in 1993 in Camden, Maine, Sea Dog Brewing Co. began with a brewpub and kegging brewery under the auspices of founder Pete Camplin, Sr. The company then opened a second restaurant and brewery location in 1995 in downtown Bangor, Maine, on the banks of the historic Penobscot River.
In 2002 master brewer Alan Pugsley and entrepreneur Fred Forsley became the new owners of Sea Dog, and today Sea Dog Brewing Co. operates three Maine brewpubs, in South Portland, Bangor and Topsham, as well as outposts in Florida, and brews a full line of handcrafted ales.
Sea Dog beers are brewed in traditional style using English two-row malt and British top-fermenting yeast. Their English brewing style results in brews with a distinctive, refreshing taste and a crisp finish.
Beers in the Sea Dog portfolio include Sea Dog India Pale Ale, Hazelnut Porter and the popular fruit beers Sea Dog Apricot, Blueberry and Raspberry. Sea Dog Apricot is a crisp and quenching wheat ale with a subtle essence of fresh apricots in the aroma and in the taste. Sea Dog Blueberry features the nutty quench of a wheat ale combined with aromatics and subtle flavor contributed by Maine wild blueberries. It is slightly sweet and very refreshing. Sea Dog Raspberry is a dry, crisp, refreshing ale with the added essence of raspberries.
