In the hillsides north of Genoa, the Gavi region produces excellent dry white wines from the Cortese grape, labeled Cortese di Gavi or or simply Gavi. Wines produced within the town of Gavi itself are Gavi di Gavi. All are light-bodied and crisp, with refreshing zest and minerality.
