Guide to Rhône Blends
The Southern Rhone Valley of France is noted for its distinctive blends of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre grapes. In many parts of the world, especially California and Australia, winemakers are blending these “GSM” grapes along with Carignan and Cinsault to produce robust, food friendly wines sometimes called “Rhone Ranger” blends.
