Carneros
The vineyards of Carneros
Carneros straddles the southernmost portions of both the
Sonoma and
Napa Valleys and lies north of the San Pablo Bay (an offshoot of the San Francisco Bay). The cool climate results from bay winds and fog banks, created when warm air traveling toward the sea meets cool air moving inland. The soils are a mix of clay and loamy deposits with good drainage, making it a perfect location for both
Pinot Noir and
Chardonnay. The Chardonnays tend to be crisp, bright and lively with apple, pineapple and lemon flavors. Pinot Noir is spicy with cherry and red berry flavors and a nice crispness.
