Santenay
Santenay (
sahn-tuh-NEH) is the last major village in the southern part of the Côte d’Or. Santenay is just north of the next major Burgundian subregion, the
Côte Chalonnaise. Because the Santenay AC is not nearly as well known as most of the neighboring village appellations to the north, the prices of the wines are usually lower. Almost all the
wines produced are
reds made from
Pinot Noir. There are no Grand Cru vineyards, but there are several fine Premier Cru vineyards, including Clos de Tavannes, La Comme, Les Gravières and Le Passe Temps.
