Bogle Petite Sirah

Bogle Petite Sirah

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by 2011 vintage Deep purple red color. Restrained nose - seems a little closed in, but even after an hour of air it is still dense and concentrated - lots of fruit (berries) with a little oak - maybe another bottle is in order to see what happens after two hours of air (or more). Well balanced. As with the nose, the flavors are dense, concentrated, fruity, but seem to be a little closed in. Long, lingering finish. Perhaps this one would benefit from a little more time in the bottle. A word about how I use these five star ratings - I recognize that people have wildly different tastes, and I recognize that there are many different styles of winemaking for each variety of grape. I also recognize that most bottles of wine have been well crafted. That said, it is unlikely that we will encounter a truly bad bottle of bad wine, but it is inevitable that we will encounter wines that are not to our taste. Just because I don't like a wine does not mean it is a bad wine - it will appeal to someone. When I give a wine five stars, it means that I liked it, it met my expectations, and I will buy it again. If a wine does not meet my expectations, yet seems to be well made, I will probably give it three stars, and explain why the wine was not as I expected. I will also leave a comment so that you might determine if the wine will appeal to your taste. January 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great flavor and great price Full of fruit and just the right petite earthiness. Have served this at two fund raisers and it is always a hit. The price lets us offer a great tasting wine and still stay within budget. October 18, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by 2010 Has Far More Fruit Than the 2011 Vintage This is my current house red! Would have given 5 stars if vinter has been able to keep up the taste in the 2011 vintage. So I am stocking up on the 2010 vintage. Cheers! October 2, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by good value This is a pretty good bottle of p.s. for less than $10. Not my very favorite, but a good consistently well made wine. Full bodied. June 10, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Neat Cheeky Red. Smooth and spicy. Over the Memorial Day weekend my Sis-in-Law introduced me to this delightful surprise. Nicely chilled to around 60 *s (her insistence, btw) we enjoyed the perfect wine, grilled stakes and, most of all, perfect weather here in Charleston, SC. Before they headed back to FL I bought 4 bottles - two to send home with them and two for my own enjoyment. :D June 5, 2013

California- Petite Sirah is today considered Bogles heritage varietal. Ripe summer blackberries and plums overwhelm both the nose and palate of this wine. Its trademark inky, jammy qualities are a barrage of black fruit and spice, adding layer upon layer of complexity.
