Rated 4 out of 5Â by JohnR not bad, but not great value
not a bad wine, but I am not sure that it is that much better than their Essential Red to justify the price

Deep color. Medium intensity nose; fruity, spicy, with nice oaky characteristics. This wine seems a little closed in, but it has not opened up much after an hour of air. In the mouth it has nice body and shows firm tannins - it goes well with food, but perhaps it is not a good sipper. Tannins linger in the finish. A nice wine, but I wonder if further aging would smooth out the tannins.
A word about how I use these five star ratings -
I recognize that people have wildly different tastes, and I recognize that there are many different styles of winemaking for each variety of grape. I also recognize that most bottles of wine have been well crafted. That said, it is unlikely that we will encounter a truly bad bottle of bad wine, but it is inevitable that we will encounter wines that are not to our taste. Just because I don't like a wine does not mean it is a bad wine - it will appeal to someone. When I give a wine five stars, it means that I liked it, it met my expectations, and I will buy it again. If a wine does not meet my expectations, yet seems to be well made, I will probably give it three stars, and explain why the wine was not as I expected. I will also leave a comment so that you might determine if the wine will appeal to your taste.

I really enjoyed this wine and actually given a bottle away. A friend has requested that I order three bottles just from my recommendations "I hope she enjoys"
