Rated 4 out of 5Â by 007drinkswineinsecret Very decent value for the price merlot
So I've read the previous reviews and they seem quite dated. I drank this bottle in March '14 and it tasted fine. A nice berry-fruit red with smooth tannin mouth feel. It didn't have the smoky complex flavors and aromas, but it was a definitely presentable wine for any red wine / food pairing situation. Good value for less than $10 bucks.

Deep red-purple color. Light to medium nose - very berry like with a bit of oakiness. Medium body, well balanced, with noticeable, but smooth tannins. An enjoyable wine, but not as distinguished as its Merlot cellarmate.
A word about how I use these five star ratings -
I recognize that people have wildly different tastes, and I recognize that there are many different styles of winemaking for each variety of grape. I also recognize that most bottles of wine have been well crafted. That said, it is unlikely that we will encounter a truly bad bottle of bad wine, but it is inevitable that we will encounter wines that are not to our taste. Just because I don't like a wine does not mean it is a bad wine - it will appeal to someone. When I give a wine five stars, it means that I liked it, it met my expectations, and I will buy it again. If a wine does not meet my expectations, yet seems to be well made, I will probably give it three stars, and explain why the wine was not as I expected. I will also leave a comment so that you might determine if the wine will appeal to your taste.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by SodaPop Difference in 2010 & 2011 Vintages
I have enjoyed the Columbia Crest Grand Estates Cab in 2010 very much. Thought this wine was exceptional for the price - very complex and full. The 2011 vintage comes across as something very different, lacking the full bodiedness and complexity of flavors, tannins, etc It is still a good wine, and will appeal to many, yet it is very different from the prior vintage.

This wine continues to be one of the best cabs for the price of $8 at Total Wine, Year after year it has been a favorite of mine as an everyday wine.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Sid2Mac Great Cab for Under $10.00!
The 2010 vintage bottle still has the old label, not the one currently pictured.
The key with this wine is to calibrate your expectations: it's a sub-$10 Cab from Washington State. If you can do this you will enjoy this wine (more). Of course, Columbia Crest has always been a consistent QPR (Quality to Price Ratio) wine producer.
This 2010 vintage received 89 points from Wine Spectator.
I enjoyed this bottle, though at times it was a little too oaky for me. Nice fruit, appropriate tannins, mostly well-balanced. Medium-bodied, medium length finish. I will buy it again.

Columbia Crest continues--year after year--to produce fantastic wines. It amazes me the quality of flavor for the price.
