Rated 3 out of 5 by Boring but OK After tasting other 12 year varieties, I am sort of ho-hum. It's not bad especially for the price but for a few more bucks I can get something that has a little more depth and complexity. December 30, 2013

Rated 2 out of 5 by Why is it #1? This is the number one SM sold whisky in the world. Why? Because there is just more of it. Bars, usually, when they carry a SM, it will either be this one or Glenfiddich 12. So people are just exposed more often than not to this water down whisky. Many times I bring a bottle of the cheaper Glenmorangie 10 and not once, I repeat: NOT ONCE, has anyone chosen Glenlivet 12 over Glenmoangie 10. I don't recommend it. Its ok, but there are way better choices ou there at around same, or cheaper price range. Eg: Glenmorangie 10, The Grangestone 12. even Sheildaig 12. Bushmills 10 single malt (Ireland). Rated 3 out of 5 by The best of the bottom shelf Most whiskey anoraks will pass on this simply due to Glenlivet being a big name big producer which bottles a fairly generic standard whiskey. However, I feel that in this price range, this one is actually quite good. Glenlivet is known for it's nice mellow fruitiness, and pleasant floral character and you get both of those with this bottle. A lot of people would put ice or water, but this whiskey is relatively mild and has little wiggle room when adding water or ice, ie it will drown easily. Try it neat and take your time. Not a great whiskey, but one that is pleasant to drink regularly. I'd give it 4 stars if they stop the chill filtration and bottled it at 43 or 46% abv. Otherwise, I recommend this as a day to day dram that won't destroy your wallet. May 28, 2013
