Maipe Malbec

Maipe Malbec

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by A very nice red wine.. A buddy came back from Argentina last year and raved about a nice Malbec 'table' wine he and his wife enjoyed while touring the country.. Not being a world traveller or sophisticated in such things, I decided to try a bottle of Maipe Malbec. It was a nice, smooth tasting mid range red that went well with Gruyere cheese, pepper crusted roast beef tenderloin or filet Mignon.. February 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by My favorite Malbec I'm not a wine snob. I love wine, but I'm not well-versed in all the seemingly snooty ways of describing wines. But I'll give it a go as a complete noob. This wine sits lightly on your tongue with notes of cherry and blackberry but finishes surprisingly strong with a hint of chocolate and a clean, peppery snap. Ok. I'll leave that to the connoisseurs and sommeliers. Overall, I love this wine. It was recommended at a restaurant, and I haven't regretted it. I'm one of those that eschews the idea that certain wines go with certain foods as a rule, and opt to drink what I like. Sure, I understand they can enhance things, but to me, the overall pleasure of drinking a good wine wins out. This one, especially for the price, is a good buy. I currently have a bottle of the reserve set aside to mellow out. December 12, 2013

Intense, Plum, Fig, Medium-bodied

Mendoza, Argentina- Medium-bodied with a dark purple color and complex nose of plum and fig framed with floral notes. The well-balanced palate shows ripe dark fruit with the right amount of acidity ending in a long lasting finish. This classic wine pairs well with Osso Buco.
