Paradise Peak Sweet Gewurztraminer

Paradise Peak Sweet Gewurztraminer

Rated 3 out of 5 by 2012 vintage I have specific expectations when it comes to gewurztraminer. I expect them to have intense varietal aromas and flavors. This gewurztraminer is extremely light. The nose is faint with sweet fruitiness, - quite pleasant, but it lacks the varietal character I expect. It is also very light in the mouth, with just a hint of varietal character. Light body, sweet, fruity, with good balance of acid and sugar. Shows better at room temperature than chilled. As a generic sweet white wine it is very nice. As a gewurztraminer it disappointed me, lacking distinct varietal character. Review 60 A word about how I use these five star ratings - I recognize that people have wildly different tastes, and I recognize that there are many different styles of winemaking for each variety of grape. I also recognize that most bottles of wine have been well crafted. That said, it is unlikely that we will encounter a truly bad bottle of bad wine, but it is inevitable that we will encounter wines that are not to our taste. Just because I don't like a wine does not mean it is a bad wine - it will appeal to someone. When I give a wine five stars, it means that I liked it, it met my expectations, and I will buy it again. If a wine does not meet my expectations, yet seems to be well made, I will probably give it three stars, and explain why the wine was not as I expected. I will also leave a comment so that you might determine if the wine will appeal to your taste. Rated 4 out of 5 by Pleasant Drinking Tried this with Thanksgiving turkey and ham. Very nice fruit and very sweet. Think it might be nicer just to sip alone. A bit too sweet to go with the turkey but drinkable with the ham. December 2, 2013

Pacific Northwest- A striking nose filled with floral, lychee, apple blossom, and baking spice notes. These radiant flavors continue on the palate complemented by a pleasant crispness which provides gentle balance. A hint of spice leads to a dry and clean finish.
