I was musing over which score to give this and debating with myself since price becomes part of the equation here. Let me start by saying that I really enjoy this brandy and it is in my opinion by far the best brandy you'll find amongst the budget brands. And based on my personal opinion and what I like to find in a brandy, this bottle stacks up against other bottles that are 3-4 times its price.
You get a quality spirit here with a wonderful aroma with some soft fruit, vanilla and some delicate wood tannins. It's not hugely complex but you're not looking for that at this price point. What you get is simple, easy to enjoy and immensely drinkable. On the palate, this brandy has a very soft delivery with some mild sugars and hint of tannic wine, some spices like white pepper and nutmeg, and a relatively short finish with accents of wood and very mild charcoal probably from casks treatment. Overall, very clean and enjoyable neat.
I wanted to give this 5 stars because this product is enjoyable yet very inexpensive. However, I'm confident in saying this product has gone through heavy handed chill filtration which greatly reduces the mouthfeel and the finish. I'd give 5 star and pay 3-4 dollars more for this brandy if they removed chill filtration and coloring and went for a natural presentation. The quality of the spirit is there and it's up to the distillery to present it as it should be with nothing added or removed.
