Washington Hills Late Harvest Riesling

Washington Hills Late Harvest Riesling, 2011

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Just ok I had high hopes but was mostly disappointed by this wine. It had a nice level of sweetness, but was lacking in flavor. It was just bland. I finished the bottle, but probably won't buy it again. I've had other late harvest Rieslings at a similar price point that were much better so I can't recommend this. March 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by bargainhunterbill A wonderful addition to dessert. Hard to find something to go with dessert after a nice dinner. I like this wine that is sweet but not too sweet. Of course it won't take the place of a good brandy or cognac. February 14, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by 2011 vintage Pale straw color. Light to medium distinct varietal nose. Sweet, but well balanced, good body. Fruity riesling flavors; finishes well. I am not as smitten by this wine as the other reviewer, nor as much as was the Wine Enthusiast reviewer. It is a nice wine but it has a slight bitterness that is a distraction to me. That said, it didn't keep me from finishing the bottle in short order. Sometimes it is better not to think too much and just enjoy. A word about how I use these five star ratings - I recognize that people have wildly different tastes, and I recognize that there are many different styles of winemaking for each variety of grape. I also recognize that most bottles of wine have been well crafted. That said, it is unlikely that we will encounter a truly bad bottle of bad wine, but it is inevitable that we will encounter wines that are not to our taste. Just because I don't like a wine does not mean it is a bad wine - it will appeal to someone. When I give a wine five stars, it means that I liked it, it met my expectations, and I will buy it again. If a wine does not meet my expectations, yet seems to be well made, I will probably give it three stars, and explain why the wine was not as I expected. I will also leave a comment so that you might determine if the wine will appeal to your taste. February 12, 2014
