Fish Brewing Co.

Fish Brewing Co. has been hand-crafting ales from its home in beautiful Olympia, Wash., since 1993. Founded by Crayne and Mary Horton and local investors, Fish began operations humbly. With a 15-barrel brew house, two 15-barrel fermenters, and one dairy tank, Fish brewed for local beer enthusiasts up and down Puget Sound. Growing steadily, installing a 40-barrel system in 2006, Fish is now an award-winning craft brewer with distribution throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Fish began brewing English-style beers called Fish Tale Ales. In 2000, the brewers began converting Fish Tale beers to all-organic recipes, and Fish re-branded the product line as Fish Tale Organic Ales. In 2001 Fish acquired Leavenworth Biers, a German-style craft brewer founded in 1992 in the Bavarian village of Leavenworth, Wash. The Leavenworth portfolio includes two award-winning wheat beers: Leavenworth Boulder Bend Dunkelweizen and Leavenworth Whistling Pig Hefeweizen. They won the gold and bronze medals, respectively, at the 2011 Great American Beer Festival in the category of American-Style Wheat Beer with Yeast. Among other Leavenworth Bier offerings is a German-style Altbier called Eightmile Alt.

In 2004, Fish acquired Spire Mountain Cider.

In 2012, Fish introduced a line of high-gravity beers, to be released on a rotating basis, under the Reel Ales brand. The lineup includes Reel Ales Starfish Imperial Red (7.5% ABV), Monkfish Belgian Ale (9.0% ABV), Swordfish Double CDA (7.5% ABV), and 10² Barley Wine Ale (10.0% ABV).
