Belgium- Quadrupel- 10.5% ABV. Here's a traditional Abbey Ale brewed in the classic style of Belgium's Trappist Monks. It is almost ebony in color, smooth, creamy and full-bodied, with big richness of texture that is oily and assertive.
Entering the territory of double-digit ABV percentages, the Quadrupel beer, or Quad beer, style comprises deep garnet to dark-brown-hued ales of bold strength and character. Typically exhibiting great depths of maltiness, this Belgian beer’s smooth mouth-feel and full body deliver multiple layers of malt complexity evocative of rich, dark fruit, molasses, brown sugar and more. Quadrupel ales also exhibit spicy yeast notes, and the heat of high alcohol may be noticeable. Hops keep the malt sweetness from becoming cloying, but they remain in the background.
