Eel River Organic IPA

English IPA beer fell out of favor in England in the late 1800s, replaced by standard pale ale and burgeoning pale lager, and was essentially extinct by 1900. The style limped on for years, mostly in name only, in some malty bitter beers. While modern English-style IPAs are generally more hop-forward than standard English Pale Ales, they are quite balanced in overall malt and hop character. Look for notable floral, earthy, grassy hop character and a caramel, bready malt backbone. American craft-brewed versions of English-style IPA, which outnumber available English-brewed examples, may show a little more hop personality than the English IPAs; however, they remain more restrained in overall hop character than American-style IPAs.
