Beer Type
Think of the virtues of easy-drinking American-style Lager and its refreshing crispness, but remove the corn or rice and use 100 percent malts in the brew, and you have American All-Malt Lager. Malts add a tangible “more” to the aroma and flavor profile in the form of a biscuity pale malt character and, in some versions, a corresponding bump in mild hop character to balance the malts. This lager, along with select beers from other countries, can be thought of as the American counterpart to the Munich Helles Lager style. American All-Malt Lagers (also called American Pale Lagers) are not nearly as ubiquitous as light and regular American-style Lagers, and they’re worth seeking out.
