OVERVIEW

Also called Bohemian Pilsner, the Pilsner (or Pilsener) style was first introduced in 1842 in the city of Plze? in the western Czech Republic. Pilsner beer was revolutionary, sweeping Europe as the first-ever palatable, clear, golden-yellow brew. The best Pilsner beers are characterized by a bready, biscuity, toasty malt profile with a gentle, spicy Noble hop character from indigenous Žatec hops. A flavorful malt backbone balances their signature hop bitterness, delivering an overall clean flavor with little to no fruity yeast esters. A proper pour of Czech Pilsner yields a dense, frothy white head.
