Product Highlights

Wine Enthusiast-Sonoma Coast, Sonoma, CA- "Thick, spicy and savory, this wine comes from Dutton Ranch, Sangiacomo and Calesa. The whole is exotic in black cherry, orange peel and black tea, with a candied quality to the fruit that gives it an edginess of flavor and texture."

OVERVIEW

Sonoma-Loeb’s story begins 25 years ago with then U.S. Ambassador to Denmark, John Loeb. He fell in love with wine and began growing Chardonnay and Pinot noir in the Russian River Valley and the Alexander Valley. A nod to his diplomatic past, the label features a coat of arms bestowed on him by the Queen of Denmark and the Queen of England.

Phillip Titus has been making wines for Sonoma-Loeb since he was just out of college in 1990. Over the years he’s made many highly rated wines using state-of-the-art facilities and a traditional approach. Phillip embodies the saying found on the wine’s label: "Voluntas est Via," meaning where there’s a will there’s a way.

Wine grapes have been planted in Sonoma County since the first European settlers arrived. In 1812, Russian immigrants began planting vines along the coast. In the 1820s, Spanish monks planted vines as they built their missions. In 1855, Hungarian Agoston Haraszthy founded Buena Vista, which bills itself as California’s first premium winery, still in operation today.
