Côtes du Roussillon/Côtes du Roussillon-Villages

The Côtes du Roussillon appellation is tucked into a far corner of France, between Spain and the Mediterranean. Abundant sun shines on stony vineyards of Carignan, Grenache and Cinsault, the region’s traditional varieties, as well as on increasingly abundant plantings of Syrah and Mourvèdre. These are blended into red and rosé wines; a small amount of white wine is made from white Grenache and other varieties.

Within Côtes du Roussillon, select terraced hillsides above the Agly, Verdouble and du Maury rivers produce the more complex and barrel-aged Côtes du Roussillon-Villages red wines. Each is named with one of four denominations: Caramany, Lesquerde, Latour de France and Tautavel.
