The vineyards of Piesport fill terraces rising above one of the Mosel River’s many sharp curves. Vines on the south-facing and protected slopes are treated to warm days and cool evenings, producing some of Germany’s most remarkably rich and aromatic Riesling wines, known as Piesporter.
Piesporter Michelsberg is a separate designation that covers a larger swath of vineyards along the mid-Mosel, but typically does not include Piesport.
