Yet in that half-century, Washington has become the United States’ second-largest wine producer, behind California. And each year, Washington winemakers deliver an ever-more-impressive portfolio of world-class wines.
It’s not easy. Washington state wineries face serious obstacles, most notably the region’s climatic extremes.

Sorry, no such thing as a chocolate grape! But with a winemaker’s skillful blending, chocolate wines do manage to combine two of our favorite things – red wine and chocolate – in a single pour.
Chocolate wines are made by adding chocolate flavors to a base of red wine. Cream or fruit flavoring may also be added. Chocolate wines are sweet wines to pair with dessert, or enjoy on their own, nicely chilled.
