Product Highlights

James Suckling-Aconcagua Valley, Chile- "This has very sweet, ripe peach and tropical-fruit aromas, making a vibrant and intense impression. The palate has a very succulent, round feel with a smooth, fleshy feel and pastry-like, smooth, fleshy pears and peaches to close."

OVERVIEW

Clos d'Angel Wine Bottle.

As a teen, Aurelio Jr. toured the Napa Valley with his iconic winemaker dad and the trip “lit the fire” that fueled a tour to learn from grape growers and winemakers around the world. He soaked it all up, then he and his father defied traditional wisdom by taking risks. Those bold moves included planting on hillsides—everyone told them they were crazy—and they paid off. Montes ended up being the first premium winery from Chile, famous not only for their wines but for consistent quality, vintage after vintage.

Chilean wine production dates back more than 400 years. Spanish colonists, quick to recognize the terrain as ideal for viticulture, were the first to plant vines in the valleys that would come to define Chilean wine regions. They started with País, which would be the primary grape for Chilean wine for the next 300 years, until globetrotting Chileans, flush from the country’s agricultural and mining riches, brought home French vines to grow their favorite Bordeaux varieties.
