Beer Serving Temperatures

The enjoyment of beer is a personal experience, one that’s certain to be chock-full of discovery as you explore the wonders of different beer styles.

The beer serving temperatures recommended here are derived from a collection of expert beer sources. Typically, a glass of beer will begin at its coolest and will warm up as you drink it. This will certainly apply to some of the stronger beers intended for sipping and savoring. You may be amazed at how a beer’s complexities begin to emerge as it warms.

More relevant than the specific temperatures suggested here are what cold and warm mean to you in relation to beer. Your “cold” may be a few degrees warmer or cooler than another drinker’s. You’ll still find this guide helpful to learn, for example, that a Euro Pale Lager will generally be more enjoyable on the cold end of the serving spectrum, while a Scotch Ale/Wee Heavy will show the most flavor at warmer temperatures.

Discover your preferred temperature for each style. If it’s right for you, then it’s right!
