Created by American craft brewers as an introduction to more flavorful craft beers, American Blonde Ale is typically smooth, clean, crisp, well-balanced and easy to drink. Blonde in color and generally sporting a lacy white head, blonde ales are mildly bready, with biscuit-y pale malt sweetness. American Blonde Ales may also possess hints of toast, and some may contain a portion of wheat in the grain mix that reveals itself in the aroma and flavor. In addition, fruity ale yeast esters often impart citrusy notes. Moderate hop levels provide flavor and bitterness to balance the malt sweetness.
