Ribera Del Duero

Running along the Duero River, Ribera del Duero is known for lively red wines produced from Tempranillo blended with Cabernet and Merlot.

The Ribera del Duero wine region, located along the Duero River in northern Spain, is halfway between Madrid and the Atlantic Ocean. The Duero River becomes the Douro in Portugal, and Port and excellent table wines are also made on the Portuguese side of the border.

In recent decades, the Ribera del Duero wine region has become a magnet for skilled winemakers from around the world. Hot, dry days and cool nights here can produce concentrated and lively red wines. The primary grape in Ribera del Duero is Tempranillo – known locally as Tinta del Pais – with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot used more and more in modern red blends.
