It seems like every celebrity has their own liquor or wine label today — from George Clooney’s famous Casamigos to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Teremana Tequila. So, to help you find your favorite celebs’ Tequila, we put together a quick list of 16 brands we think you should know. We’re going in chronological order from when these celebrities launched their brands. And we’re sure there will be more to come!

Casa Noble + Carlos Santana

casa-noble-tequila

The first Tequila on our list is probably lesser known as a celebrity-backed brand. Carlos Santana, the famous Mexican guitar player, became part owner of Casa Noble Tequila in 2011. As a native of Jalisco, Mexico, getting involved in Tequila is closer to home than many of his fellow celebrity entrepreneurs.

The Hermosillo family founded the brand in 1997 and continues to run the distillery with Maestro Tequilero Jose “Pepe” Hermosillo as the lead distiller. The family follows Tequila-making traditions that have been passed down for over seven generations.

Casa Noble offers the three classic styles of Tequila, Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo. The Blanco is triple distilled for added balance and smoothness, and both the Reposado and Añejo are aged in French oak barrels giving aromas and flavors of toasted oak and vanilla.

Casamigos + George Clooney

casamigos-tequila

Casamigos is probably the most well-known celebrity Tequila brand out there. George Clooney (Do we need to explain who he is? We didn’t think so.), Rande Gerber (ex-husband of Cindy Crawford), and Mike Meldman (a property developer) originally created Casamigos to be enjoyed by family and friends. They didn’t intend to release it to the public, but after two years of enjoying it themselves, the trio launched the brand in 2013. While the three men still have active roles in the brand, Diageo purchased Casamigos in 2017 for an estimated $1 billion.

Casamigos is made from agave grown in the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, and produced in small batches. You can sip on the three classic styles of Tequila or try their Mezcal — the smoky cousin to Tequila and produced in Oaxaca, Mexico.

DeLeon + Sean Combs

deleon-tequila

DeLeon Tequila was launched in 2009 but was later purchased by Sean Combs (Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Diddy) in 2014. DeLeon was not Combs' first endeavor in the alcohol industry, also having involvement in his celebrity-backed Vodka brand, Ciroc.

DeLeon is made in the Los Altos region of Jalisco. The Blanco features agave roasted in traditional clay ovens for a subtle flavor profile. The Reposado is aged in Harlan Estate wine barrels and features flavors of orange peel, vanilla, cardamom, and Meyer lemon.

Codigo 1530 + George Strait

codiga-tequila

Country singer and songwriter George Strait invested in Codigo 1530 in 2017. This Tequila is described as ultra-premium and was only consumed by a small group of Mexican families and their friends, including Strait, until it became commercially available in 2016.

What makes Codigo 1530 unique from many Tequila brands is its aging process. Instead of using traditional French white oak barrels, they use red wine barrels from Napa Valley to age their Rosa, Reposado, and Añejo Tequilas. The Cabernet wines that originally saw the inside of the barrels impart unique qualities on the end spirit.

One other stand-out difference is their Rosa Tequila. This pink-hued Tequila starts with their Blanco version but is rested for one month in the Napa Valley Cabernet barrels imparting soft red wine notes on the final spirit. Codigo 1530 also offers an Extra Añejo (or “Origen”) style, along with special editions like Barrel Strength and Mezcal.

Prospero + Rita Ora

prospero-tequila

Prospero is crafted by hand from bottle to spirit and produced at the Don Roberto distillery in Jalisco, Mexico, and made by Master Distiller Stella Anguiano, one of the most distinguished female master distillers. Rita Ora helped establish the brand in 2019 and acts as the Chief Creative Partner. The brand notes that it is “a celebration of women; a spirit made with all women in mind,” one of the main reasons why Ora got involved.

You can sip on the three classic styles of Tequila from Prospero, Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo — voted as one of the Top 100 Spirits of 2019 by Wine Enthusiast.

Dos Hombres Mezcal + Aaron Paul & Bryan Cranston

dos-hombres-tequila

While technically not a Tequila, we still included this one on our list. Paul and Cranston, the notable duo from the hit show “Breaking Bad,” launched Dos Hombres in July 2019. Dos Hombres is a Mezcal produced from a unique blend of Espadin agave in Oaxaca, Mexico. The agave must grow for six years before it is ready to harvest. It is then baked for four days in earthen pits of hot stones covered with soil. The result is a Mezcal with a smooth, smoky finish you’ll want to enjoy neat.

Villa One + Nick Jonas

villa-one-tequila

Pop star Nick Jonas and fashion designer John Varvatos were inspired by their love of Tequila to launch Villa One together in August of 2019. Villa One features agave from both the Highland and Lowland regions of Jalisco, giving the Tequila a unique quality of herbaceous, earthy lowland influences and sweeter, fruiter notes from the Highland agave. The Tequila is crafted by Master Distiller Arturo Fuentes, who has three decades of crafting Cognac, Champagne, and, of course, Tequila.

Cincoro + Michael Jordan

cincoro-tequila

Five NBA owners are behind this celebrity Tequila. Michael Jordan, Jeanie Buss, Wes Edens, Wyc Grousebeck, and Emilia Fazzalari met for dinner in 2016 and bonded over their love of tequila — from there, the brand was born and finally released to the market in 2019.

The name comes from two Spanish words, “cinco” and “oro” — five for the owners and gold for the standard in producing Tequila. Beyond the name and the five famous owners, the bottle itself was designed by Mark Smith, who designed several Air Jordan shoes for Nike. The shape of the bottle is inspired by the agave leaf and features five sides for each of the owners. There is also an agave plant design pressed into the bottom of the bottle that is angled at 23 degrees for Jordon’s iconic basketball number.

Cincoro is a little pricier than some other celebrity tequilas but worth a sip. The Añejo is aged in Bourbon barrels from Kentucky, imparting caramel, dried fruit, and dark chocolate aromas with a long, complex finish. If you can find it, Cincoro also produces limited quantities of an Extra Añejo that is aged 40 to 44 months.

JAJA + The Chainsmokers

jaja-tequila

Three friends went to Mexico looking for the best Tequila and found a distillery that embraced traditional methods with an eco-friendly and sustainable production process. Eliot Tebele, Maurice Tebele, and Martin Hoffstein launched the brand in 2018 with famous DJ The Chainsmokers as one of the primary investors. The trio wanted the brand to be fun and social, just as tequila should be sipped with friends. The name JAJA, in English “Ha Ha”, embodies that sentiment.

The Tequila is produced in small batches and has sweet and herbal qualities, with three styles to choose from. The Blanco is triple distilled and perfect on the rocks or in a cocktail. The Reposado has classic notes of vanilla, caramel, and oak. The Añejo is aged for two years in American oak barrels for a complex and smooth finish.

Santo + Guy Fieri & Sammy Hagar

santo reposado tequila

Santo isn’t Sammy Hagar’s first run around with Tequila. This rocker also owns Cabo Wabo Tequila. But when Guy Fieri approached him to make Tequila, he couldn’t refuse. Together, Hagar and Fieri launched Santo Tequila in the summer of 2019.

The duo worked with third-generation Master Distiller Juan Eduardo Nuñez at the El Viejito Distillery to produce Blanco, Reposado, and Mezquila, the first-of-its-kind blend of Tequila and Mezcal for a unique smoky flavor.

Teremana + Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

teremana-tequila

Backed by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Teremana is produced by a family-owned distillery in Jalisco. Johnson worked with the family to build a unique production facility just for his Tequila. Teremana means spirit of earth and reflects the sustainability standards of the brand. One practice the brand implemented is to turn leftover agave fibers from production into natural compost for the agave fields.

Teremana debuted in March 2020 and includes a Blanco Tequila with bright citrus flavors and a smooth, fresh finish, a Reposado featuring oak and vanilla, and an Añejo that has warm oak, vanilla, and roasted agaves notes with a lightly sweet and complex finish. Unique to the brand, and the spirits industry as a whole, you will find the nutrition facts on the back of the bottle.

Lobos 1707 + Lebron James

Lobos 1707 Extra Anejo Tequila

Named after the Spanish word meaning “wolves”, Lobos 1707 is a tribute to celebrating the strength of the pack of entrepreneurs behind the label, including basketball icon, LeBron James.

Lobos 1707 takes a unique approach to finishing their Tequilas, using Pedro Ximénez (PX) wine barrels from Spain that were previously used to make Sherry. This method has been used since the inception of the brand in 1707 by Diego Osorio, the current founder’s great-great-grandfather. Sip on four styles, including Reposado, Extra Añejo, Joven, and Mezcal.

Calirosa + Adam Levine

calirosa-tequila

Entering the market in 2021, this celebrity tequila brand comes from Maroon 5’s lead singer, Adam Levine. The brand identifies Calirosa as an inspired spin on traditional tequila combining Mexican spirit with California style. The Tequila is produced by the Real family and Master Distiller Luis Trejo Rodriguez, who have been making agave spirits since the 1940s.

A unique style of Calirosa is the Rosa Blanco. The Blanco Tequila is aged in California red wine barrels for 30 days to impart a pale pink color along with aromas of strawberry, raspberry, and honey. The Añejo and Extra Añejo styles are also aged in red wine barrels giving them unique qualities compared to traditional Bourbon or Whiskey barrel aging.

818 Tequila + Kendall Jenner

Bottle of 818 Tequila Blanco

A celebrity family that seems to do it all, Kendal Jenner launched 818 Tequila in the spring of 2021. The 818 name comes from her home area code. Jenner wanted to develop a women-led brand that was also socially and environmentally responsible. The distillery runs on solar power and biomass with zero fossil fuel usage. They also partner with a group called S.A.C.R.E.D. to transform agave byproducts into adobe bricks.

818 Tequila comes in three styles — Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo. The Blanco, while clear in color, is rested in oak barrels for a hint of vanilla. The Reposado is blended with Extra Añejo and has a smooth caramel finish with notes of pecan pie. Last but not least, the Añejo is also blended with Extra Añejo, aged for one year, and has a long silky, rich finish.

Flecha Azul + Mark Wahlberg

flecha azul cristalino tequila bottle

In early 2022, Mark Wahlberg announced he was joining tequila brand Flecha Azul as a principal investor. Co-founded by Abraham Ancer, a Mexican professional golfer, and Aron Marquez, an entrepreneur, the brand prominently highlights the significance and meaning behind its name and logo. “Flecha” translates to “arrow” in English, representing perseverance. Within the logo, the arrow is placed inside a coa – the tool used to harvest piña, which also represents strength. Surrounding the coa and arrow are agave leaves shaped into a sunburst symbolizing the bright and vibrant culture of the Mexican people.

Flecha Azul produces five styles of Tequila, including Blanco, Reposado, Añejo, Extra Añejo, and Cristalino. The Cristalino starts in the same way as the Añejo — aged for 18 months in ex-Bourbon and American oak casks — but is then triple distilled to become clear in color and light and soft on the palate.

Gran Coramino + Kevin Hart

gran coramino anejo tequila

Comedian Kevin Hart launched his Tequila brand, Gran Coramino, in the spring of 2022. Hart worked with 11th-generation tequila maker Juan Domingo Beckmann to produce two expressions — Reposado Cristalino and Añejo.

The Cristalino is clear in color but finished in California Cabernet wine casks to impart subtle berry notes. The Añejo is aged in American and French oak casks and then matured in cognac casks for an ultra-smooth and silky taste. The brand also has a mission to give back, with $1 of every bottle sold being donated to support small businesses and entrepreneurs.
