Costiéres de Nîmes

Proximity to the Mediterranean provides a fine environment for vines in the Costières de Nîmes: In the Rhone’s southernmost wine appellation, they enjoy long, sunny summers and the drying winds of the Mistral. About half of the wines produced in the Costières de Nîmes are ripe, fresh reds, made with the classic Rhone combination of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, sometimes with the addition of Carignan and Cinsault. Rosés are also a natural in this southern region, made from the same red grapes, which may be blended with a bit of white Grenache, Marsanne or Roussanne. These last varieties are also used to make smooth and aromatic white wines.
