Titus Vineyards

Titus Vineyards is a family-owned 50-acre vineyard and winery located at the base of Howell Mountain along the Silverado Trail in the heart of St. Helena in the Napa Valley. The land has been continuously farmed for over 150 years, with the Titus family’s first harvest in 1969.

From a young age, Eric Titus and his brothers worked alongside their parents, Lee and Ruth Titus, in his families vineyard. Armed with a doctorate degree in Biology, Titus returned to the family business full time in 2002 to help with their flourishing winery. In the vineyard, Titus has adopted green practices that support sustainable farming. Their aim is to farm with techniques that ensure minimum impact on the local environment with nearly all vineyard work done by hand.

Some of the valleys finest wines including Beaulieu Vineyards, Cuvaison and Charles Krug have originated from Titus’s historic vineyards.

It’s the quality and reputation of Napa Valley wine that inspire crowds of tourists to visit Napa Valley wineries dotting Highway 29, nestled between the Mayacamas mountain range to the west and the Vaca Range to the east.

Despite its limited acreage, Napa Valley is a diverse growing region with many microclimates and varied soil types. Over the 30 miles from the cool San Francisco Bay north through Oakville, Rutherford, St. Helena and Calistoga, the average temperature can increase 10 percent. So cool-weather varieties like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir thrive in Carneros, at the southern end of the region; warm-weather grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc fare better in the north.

Sauvignon Blanc is an international white grape variety that originates in France. It’s long been used to make world-class wines from Bordeaux and the Loire Valley. Yet in recent decades, Sauvignon Blanc has become an everyday favorite thanks to the New World winemakers of New Zealand.

With its distinctive, vivid aromas and zesty acidity, Sauvignon Blanc is easy to peg in a blind tasting of dry white wines. The wine’s green, herbaceous and fruity scents are sometimes accented with musky aromas, yet its flavors are consistently fresh and bright.
