Eisbock

Minimal translation required: Eisbock means “ice bock.” Brewers partially freeze this Lager beer, then separate the frozen water from the unfrozen remainder of the brew. With the ice removed, the remaining beer is stronger and more concentrated. The ABV of Eisbocks can be as high as the mid-teens, typically higher than that of even Doppelbocks. Expect a similar color, aroma and flavor profile to dark Doppelbocks, with the addition of strong alcohol notes and a full body. Carbonation is low, and the alcohol can be warming to the senses. Availability of this style is limited.
